Strategic Aim

The Provost has appointed a working group that will design and host a set of events to give shape to and build interest in a potential interdisciplinary neuroscience program at Wake Forest. Given the momentum that already exists, especially coming out of last year’s Dana Foundation work, Neuroscience & Society can be a showcase program to demonstrate to our community the potential behind Wake Forest’s strategy.

The working group is charged with developing its own strategic frame and a guest lecture series that will bring thought leaders to campus and spur our imaginations about the shape of neuroscience programs in our community. This group will lay the groundwork for future growth.

Members of the group are:

  • Irma Alarcón, associate professor of Spanish
  • Christine Coughlin, professor of law
  • Ana Iltis, Carlson professor of university studies, professor of philosophy, and director of the Center for Bioethics, Health and Society (co-chair)
  • Erik Johnson, professor and chair of biology (co-chair)
  • Kevin Jung, professor of theological ethics and moral philosophy
  • Katy Lack, associate teaching professor of biology
  • Joost Maier, associate professor of neurobiology and anatomy
  • Stacie Petter, professor of information systems, area chair, and Citibank-Calloway Fellow
  • Wayne Pratt, professor of psychology
  • Anthony Sali, assistant professor of psychology
  • Christina Soriano, professor of dance and vice provost for the arts and interdisciplinary initiatives
