Strategic Aim

,

Two groups are at work on campus to catalyze conversation and experimentation with artificial intelligence (“AI”) as a learning tool and resource for the University Community, providing for increased digital literacy among our students, faculty, staff, and graduates.

The first group, chaired by Center for the Advancement of Teaching (“CAT”) Executive Director Betsy Barre, is collecting data about classroom and student usage of AI, exploring tools for use in those settings, and learning about frameworks for regulating the place of AI in teaching and learning. After a popular AI Institute in January 2024, this group worked with CAT to sponsor “AI Institute 2.0” during the week between exams and graduation in May 2024. They’ve also spearheaded an exciting Peer-to-Peer AI Seminar program for the 2024 summer.

The second group is reviewing tools available to streamline campus services, including AI resources available in Google Workspace and the Microsoft 365 suite, along with new AI features inside Workday. This group will make recommendations to the Information Technology Advisory Board.
