Strategic Aim

The Neuroscience and Society Strategic Framing Working Group focused its Spring 2024 work on:

  • refining the proposal for an interdisciplinary Neuroscience major in the College,
  • preparing a vision and proposed position announcement for the Boswell Presidential Endowed Chair in Neuroscience and Society as well as developing recruitment suggestions to be shared with the search committee,
  • fostering research collaborations and grant submissions related to Neuroscience and Society, and
  • offering programming to foster and assess faculty, staff, and student interest.

The proposal for a Neuroscience major is under review by department chairs and will be sent to administrative committees designated by the Dean of the College and Graduate School and by the Provost, both of whom have commented and recommended revisions of the current proposal.

The Dean and Provost have reviewed the Boswell Chair description and our recruitment recommendations. Next steps include formation of the search committee. Our working group is prepared to support the Search Committee in its work.

Grant submissions and programming in Spring of 2024 confirmed the depth and breadth of interest in Neuroscience and Society across the university.

Our group is poised to continue navigating the administrative steps required to advance the new interdisciplinary major, to support the search for the Boswell Chair, and to continue fostering research and engagement in Neuroscience and Society across the university.
